Slide Bearing Assembly with a tack welded upper element. This configuration incorporates 1/2" thick Viblon or Reinforced Elastomer Bearing Pad in the lower element. The underside of the Viblon bearing pad is not bonded to the concrete. This Slide Bearing Assembly does require a minimum of 200 psi. to function properly. It reduces installation time, does not require a specific installation location and allows for rotation, deflection, expansion and vibration at higher load values.
Upper Element :
3/32" thick Fluorogold®, Teflon® or PTFE bonded to (A)10 gauge carbon steel backing plate or (B)16 gauge stainless steel with a 2b finish fusion welded to a 1/2" sole plate. When the upper slide bearing element has a stainless steel sliding surface, the lower element is often virgin white PTFE or Teflon®.
Lower Element :
(A)3/32" thick Fluorogold® bonded to 10 gauge carbon steel backing plate or (B) 1/16" virgin PTFE or Teflon®, then vulcanized to 1/2" thick Viblon or Reinforced Elastomer Bearing Pad, AASHTO spec. 18.4.10.1. The thickness of the neoprene, PTFE or Teflon® and the steel plates are variable.
Loads : 75 psi to 1,500 psi
Temperature : -50° to +200° F
Slide Bearing backing plates can be:
Carbon Steel (CS)
Stainless Steel (SS)
Corten Steel (CT)
Aluminum (AL)
Galvanized Carbon Steel (GL)
Galvanizing can be Hot Dip or Electroplated
