The Steel Supply Company, through our many manufacturing capabilities and wide range of supply partners, can provide specialty needs for any project you are confronted with.
Each project can bring its own variables and require special components. That is why we offer 37 different product lines ranging from Anchor Bolts to Elastomeric Bearings.
Below are several of the products available, or to see the full listing visit the PRODUCTS page of our website.

High Temperature Slide Bearings
Slide Bearings can present a problem when operating temperatures increase. Normal structural temperatures usually remain well within the range of the basic Fluorogold® bonded to steel. Elevated temperatures of approximately 400°F / 204°C and above require the bonding adhesive be replaced with a mechanical bond. Shown in Fig. 1 the Fluorogold® is connected to a stainless-steel screen which is then welded to the steel backing plate.

Wedges
Often, steel wedges require a Knockout Block as shown in Fig. 2. This provides the erector the ability to remove the wedge quickly and safely when it is under pressure. The wedges are made to order, to the dimensions you require. Standard Size Steel Wedges are also available from stock.

Internal Thread and External Thread Weld Studs
The basic Concrete Anchor and Shear Connector are easy enough. Diameter and length define the product and almost all sizes are in stock ready for shipment.
At times the call outs get more involved, such as the internal thread and external thread shown in Fig. 3. Due to the range of diameters, lengths and thread pitch specially threaded Weld studs are usually made to order.

Hillside Washers, Bevel Washers and Beveled slotted shims.
Angles always present some kind of issue. When steel bracing rods penetrate a steel member the can be secured using self leveling Hillside Washers.
When dealing with uneven concrete substrates, Relieving Angles can be righted using Beveled Slotted Shims.

Vibration Isolation Bearings.
Designed to stop vibration from transferring between steel members, concrete substrates, etc. The Vibration Isolation Bearing can be found in Railroad or Subway locations, bridges, machinery facilities and power plants. Shown in Fig. 5 is a Viblon® Bearing, which is made from multiple layers of nylon fabric embedded in nitile rubber. Other products that are often specified in vibration isolation locations range from basic Commercial Grade Neoprene and ROF Rubber Pads to closed cell polymers such as Sylodyn®.

Weld On Masonry Anchors
Rod Anchors and Slotted Channel are available in plain, galvanized and stainless steel and in many variations. Shown in Fig. 6 are the Rod Anchors. The varying height is to accommodate any layers of Fireproof Coatings that may be applied to the Columns and Beams. Ideally matched, the Rod Anchor should rise 5/8” above the fireproof material.
The possible variations in any steel or construction project are limitless. Add to that the
endless supply of new materials and systems being developed every year in response
to safety concerns, environmental advancements and efficiency and we are presented
with an ongoing evolution of products and supplies. The Steel Supply Company
considers these special items an opportunity to advance our reputation as a manufacturer and supplier dedicated to helping you keep your project on schedule and on budget.
